So, you’ve been elected by your troop to become a part of the Order of the Arrow! Now, there is only one thing left to do – go to one of two Ordeal weekends this year. Once inducted, you will forever be a member of Scouting’s National Honor Society! But the journey does not end at your ordeal. There are endless opportunities in the OA and we are excited you have the chance to become a part of it.
Below you’ll find some information about how to prepare for your ordeal.
What is an Ordeal?
The Ordeal is a weekend experience in which those elected or selected learn about the customs and traditions of the Order of the Arrow and undertake a spiritual journey to discover the true meanings of leadership, service and the Brotherhood of Scouting.
How do I sign up?
The lodge holds two Ordeals every year – the Allogagan in May and the Pilgrimage in August. You must attend at least one of these weekends the year you are elected. If you do not, you must be re-elected by your troop next year. Prior to the Ordeal, you will receive a letter in the mail with information on how to sign up.
What should I bring?
You should only bring the following items to your Ordeal.
- Extra cash (for the Trading Post when Ordeal is over)
- Medications as necessary
- BSA Medical form
- Horseshoe Pack (see THIS LETTER for full details)
Arrive at camp between 5:00pm and 7:00pm on Friday. Supper is provided on Friday!
