Welcome, New Arrowman!
Congratulations on completing your Ordeal and becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow and Alibamu Lodge! Your journey in the OA is just beginning, and there are many ways to stay involved, serve others, and grow as a leader within the Lodge.

Your Role in the OA
As an Arrowman, your primary responsibility is to serve your unit. One of the best ways to do this is by becoming an OA Troop Representative. This position allows youth under 18 to act as a liaison between their unit and the Lodge while also earning leadership credit toward rank advancement. OA Troop Representatives attend both unit meetings and Lodge events, helping share information between the two and strengthening the connection.
Stay Active in the Lodge
The OA is about more than the Ordeal. Most Lodge events are focused on fellowship, service, and fun. By attending events, you can:
- Meet Arrowmen from across the council
- Participate in service projects and give back to camp
- Grow as a leader through hands-on experience
- Find support for goals like your Eagle Scout project
- Build lasting friendships

Facilitate an Induction
Become an Elangomat
One of the most meaningful ways to give back after your Ordeal is by serving as an Elangomat at the next one. Elangomats guide new candidates through their Ordeal experience, helping them understand the purpose behind each part of the weekend while setting the example through leadership and service.
Not sure if being an elangomat is right for you? Reach out to the Training Chairman to learn more
Become a ceremonialist
Ceremonies are a central part of the Order of the Arrow, helping communicate its values and traditions in a meaningful way. By joining the Ceremonies Team, you can take part in delivering these experiences for candidates and fellow members.
Whether you are interested in speaking roles, behind-the-scenes support, or learning more about the traditions of the OA, there is a place for you. Reach out to the Ceremonies Chairman for more information.

Continue Your Journey: Brotherhood
Your next step in the OA is Brotherhood membership. This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Order and reaffirm your commitment to service.
Brotherhood does not require another Ordeal. Instead, it focuses on:
- Learning OA traditions and meaning
- Increasing your service to others
- Strengthening your connection to the Lodge
Leadership Opportunities
The Order of the Arrow is youth-led. Members have the opportunity to take an active role in planning and leading events. The Lodge Executive Committee makes all of the decsions for our Lodge. There is a place for everyone, regardless of your interrests
Getting involved is one of the best ways to make the most of your OA experience. Reach out to the Lodge Chief to see what role is suited for you!
